Pillowcase lurve

pillowcase lurve, originally uploaded by drewzel.

Just so that you don't think I'm all britchin' and no stitchin' here's a pic of a couple of my latest pillowcases. Stitching pillowcases seems to be my latest obsession, and I can't wait to get them on the bed, so I haven't got a decent photo of them!

You may recognise the sleepy girls from the Vogart pattern, the "sweet dreams" motif is from a 1940's Simplicity pattern, but copyright prevents me from sharing that. (It would be easy to design your own along similar lines.) The rooster case at the back is from a Workbasket sheet I have, and Floresita has also shared it on her blog. (I had to get a chicken into the bedroom somehow!)

As an aside, I didn't make that quilt that they're sitting on, but I couldn't help buying it as I loved the colours.

Pillowcases are so expensive. Where do you get yours??

Miss Paula, my local thrift store sells their pillowcases for 99c each, so every time I go in there I manage to pick up one or two.

So are they used and you clean them up? Is this like a Goodwill or a dollar store??

Yep, they're used but still in good condition. I buy them from the Goodwill/charity shop. What I do is take them home and leave them in nappy soak for a while, then wash them, and they're all white and happy!

Thanks so much!!! Our Salvation Army Thrift Store just closed. So I will have to find another one. When you do the corners, do you stick a hoop in there???

I know full of questions...sorry.

No problems Paula! For the corners I just use a little hoop, and when I put the designs on the pillowcases I try not to put them too far up in the corners. :)
